The performance clutch LSDs have their drawback that is clutch chatter at low speeds; at road race speeds/traction there is sufficient torque to slip the clutches smoothly, I never experience chatter on a road course other than when I first pull out onto the track. There are now clutch LSDs available with carbon clutch discs that pretty much eliminates the clutch chatter. As for damaging other components, myself and everyone I have known that race with clutch LSDs, none had increased wear on CV joints, ring gears, etc. Also no one has needed to rebuild their clutch LSDs in <100kmi even those regularly raced on. The Quaife from what I know it will not be as good as a clutch LSD for drag racing (though better than the viscous), but is a good all round performer and superior for road racing.
